Rachel is a native Oregonian. After graduating from Lake Oswego High School she enrolled in the Robert D Clark Honors College at University of Oregon. She graduated with honors, earning a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in theory, women’s and gender studies, and Latin American studies. After graduation Rachel became an AmeriCorps member for two years. During the first year she worked at an NGO that provided foreclosure intervention to individuals and families who had defaulted on their home loans. During her second year, she coordinated the Peer-Mentoring Program at Chemeketa Community College where she also taught classes on service learning and leadership. After being away from Portland for six years, Rachel is delighted that the Portland area campuses have established a vibrant Hillel. Happily, Rachel is back in Portland and working for an organization that is extremely sentimental for her because of her Jewish heritage and her life-enhancing experiences at the University of Oregon Hillel. In her free time you will find Rachel laughing her face off with her friends and family, talking to cats, running around whichever neighborhood sh
e currently resides in, and perfecting her home-made Yumm bowl recipe.
