Hannah Cooper
Peer Network Engagement Intern
Hannah is from Boulder, Colorado. She will graduate with her B.A. in Psychology this spring. She is planning on joining Teach for America in Chicago next year. Hannah's favorite part of Hillel is getting to connect to so many wonderful people in the community.
Jordan Anderson
Peer Network Engagement Intern
I am a student at Lewis and Clark College in the class of 2015 who loves music, theater, art, literature and the outdoors. I am originally from Berkeley, California, where I was exposed to some really interesting progressive synagogues. My favorite parts of my Jewish heritage are the music and dancing, the scores of hilarious Jewish actors and comedians, and of course, the food. Hillel has given me a great opportunity at L&C to become part of a closer knit community and gain some experience organizing cool events. It also feels great to reach out to the broader Jewish community on campus and I've met a lot of people that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten to know. Because of this, I'm really glad that I've had the opportunity to participate in Hillel and hope that my fellow students can get the same enjoyment out of it that I have.
Meaghann Ande
Development Assistant
meaghann@pdxhillel.org
As a child, Meaghann became aware of the importance of non-profit and public service work while volunteering for an organization run by her family. She was in her twenties before she realized that this was her passion. If you ask, she'll pull out her soapbox and give you a dissertation on the importance of community service. Portland Hillel has been an enormous learning opportunity for Meaghann who grew up with little more than poofy hair and the knowledge that her mother had been raised Jewish. When she isn't hammering away at her computer, you can typically find her with her nose buried in a book, chasing around her two active little boys or cracking jokes with her husband.
Naomi Popick
Peer Network Engagement Intern
I was born and raised in Southern California to a bicultural, bilingual Japanese-Reconstructionist Jewish family. After I graduated from Newport Harbor High School, I moved up to Portland to attend Lewis and Clark College, where I am studying French, Japanese, and Political Economy (Class of 2015). I enjoy music, traveling, learning languages, baking, surfing, and practicing yoga. My favorite part about Hillel is embracing the different cultures and backgrounds of the community and constantly learning. I love talking to people, hearing their stories, and finding random things in common

Rachel Hall
Executive Director
rachel@pdxhillel.org
After 10 years of Jewish Day school, Rachel obtained her Bachelors in Psychology and Communications from Clark University and then moved on to her Masters in Cultural Studies at Simmons College. In Dec of 2012, Rachel revived her Life Coaching certification. Prior to moving to Portland, Rachel directed an international exchange program between Haifa, Israel and Boston. Raised in the deserts of Tucson AZ and seasoned on the East Coast, along with her husband and doggy she has settled in to the gentle ways of Portland and the welcoming Oregon Jewish Community. She has a passion for multiculturalism and diversity. When she is not overseeing Hillel programs and enjoying the country's most endearing college students, you can find her running along the Spring Water Trail, attending local yard sales, and continuing to build upon her Yiddish vocabulary.
Rachel Hirsch
Engagement Associate
rachelhirsch@pdxhillel.org
Rachel is a native Oregonian. After graduating from Lake Oswego High School she enrolled in the Robert D Clark Honors College at University of Oregon. She graduated with honors, earning a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in theory, women’s and gender studies, and Latin American studies. After graduation Rachel became an AmeriCorps member for two years. During the first year she worked at an NGO that provided foreclosure intervention to individuals and families who had defaulted on their home loans. During her second year, she coordinated the Peer-Mentoring Program at Chemeketa Community College where she also taught classes on service learning and leadership. After being away from Portland for six years, Rachel is delighted that the Portland area campuses have established a vibrant Hillel. Happily, Rachel is back in Portland and working for an organization that is extremely sentimental for her because of her Jewish heritage and her life-enhancing experiences at the University of Oregon Hillel. In her free time you will find Rachel laughing her face off with her friends and family, talking to cats, running around whichever neighborhood sh
e currently resides in, and perfecting her home-made Yumm bowl recipe.
